As much as I like to talk and write, I find myself struggling with a mental block when I have to write about myself. I decided to start this blog in two part. One is to finally mark something off my bucket list, the other is because I never let anyone read my writing (unless it was an instructor in school). I would pour my heart and soul in my writing and was always afraid to have anyone read it for fear it wouldn't meet expectations. I even had an instructor once criticize my insecurities to a whole group of people in class when I informed her that even my husband has never read my writing. I suppose her psychological analysis of why I hid my thoughts did not make much of an impression as I finished my degree without him reading one word of what I wrote. I didn't even invite them to my Senior Capstone presentation. To this day he has never read my Senior paper.
Okay, now that I have procrastinated enough, I will write about myself.
I love your typical boring stuff, reading, gardening, teaching, eating sweets, drinking wine, and spending time with friends. While some, but not all, of the above have been done at the same time, there is more to me that I don't often share. Not sure why I am deciding to in a quite impersonal blog. Maybe it's easier and you feel less like you are being judged. If you are judging me, just don't tell me.
I love art, mostly oil on canvas but really any kind. I love trying to figure out what the artist was thinking when they painted or sculpted the piece. I absoutely love Bouguereau! I was lucky enough to see his work at the Philbrook and fell in love with his work. AMAZING!
I love roses. I have a passion for them although I'm not very good at growing them. The scent from a sweet rose is more intoxicating than any alcohol and smells better than any expensive perfume. A new bloom, not yet opened is exquisite.
I love to laugh. Funny shows, crazy things the kids do, stupid jokes, doesn't matter. Laughing with friends is the best natural high!
I love accents and foreign languages. Especially European. I could sit and listen to someone speak Italian for hours and not know a word of what they are saying. They could read a cookbook for all I care.
I love seeing the spark in a child's eyes when they understand a new concept. I mean they really get it. To see their whole face light up when they have grasped something new is amazing. It's a special moment in time.
A love a good quote! I have them everywhere. On my cube wall, on my computer, everywhere I can put one.
